Mark Chornley’s life is a testament to resilience, courage, and unwavering compassion.
As a child, Mark endured profound physical and sexual abuse—experiences that could have defined his future. Instead, he made a conscious decision to rise above his past. Through determination and strength of character, he pursued a career in law enforcement, dedicating himself to protecting others from the very harm he once faced.
Mark proudly served as a police officer, where he developed a deep commitment to justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals. His sense of duty extended beyond the badge. When his mother—whom he loved deeply—required care, Mark stepped away from his career to become her full-time caregiver. He stood by her side with loyalty and compassion until her passing, demonstrating the same selflessness that has defined his life.
Continuing his mission to protect those most at risk, Mark went on to work as a Child Abuse Investigator. This role holds deep personal meaning for him. Having lived through abuse himself, he brings not only professional skill but genuine empathy and understanding to every case. For Mark, protecting children is not just a job—it is a calling.
Outside of his professional life, Mark has long been committed to helping children facing serious illness. For years, he participated in annual cycling events to raise funds and awareness for children battling cancer. Even with limited resources, he showed up year after year, driven by heart and purpose.
In a cruel twist of fate, Mark himself was later diagnosed with cancer.
He faced the fight largely on his own. Through the physical toll of chemotherapy and the emotional weight of his past resurfacing, Mark confronted two of the greatest battles of his life at the same time. And he overcame both. He emerged not only as a survivor—but stronger, clearer, and more determined than ever.
From that journey, Hope In Motion – Warrior Spirit was born.
Founded by Mark, the program is built on a simple but powerful mission: to stand with children who are fighting cancer and to bring awareness to the realities of child exploitation. Through cycling, community engagement, and public outreach, Hope In Motion seeks to remind every child that they are not alone—that they are seen, supported, and valued.
Mark is now calling upon both active and retired police officers, as well as members of the community, to join this mission. Together, they form a united front—one built on service, integrity, and compassion—riding not just for awareness, but for real impact in the lives of children.
Hope In Motion is more than a program.
It is a movement fueled by lived experience, guided by purpose, and driven by heart.
And at its core is one man who refused to let his past define him—and instead chose to use it to change the lives of others.
In addition to his professional work, Mark has spent years teaching martial arts within his community—offering instruction at no cost. His goal has always been to ensure that no one is left behind due to financial barriers or personal challenges.
He has worked with children, youth, adults, and individuals with special needs, creating a safe and supportive environment where people can build confidence, discipline, and self-worth. His focus has always been inclusion—reaching those who might otherwise never have the opportunity to participate.
Mark is a certified Taekwondo Master, registered with Kukkiwon in South Korea—the official world headquarters of Taekwondo—reflecting years of dedication, discipline, and mastery.
For Mark, teaching has never been about recognition. It has been about empowering others—giving people the strength, confidence, and belief in themselves to overcome their own challenges.
